Blog Optimization – 4 Steps To Post Optimization

Posted by seo at 1:22 AM
I have had a few emails concerning my recent post about blog titles and implementing search engine optimization techniques. People have been asking for more info on how I go about optimizing my blog and each of my blog posts. The simple answer to the question “how exactly do you optimize each blog post?” is;
- Do a little research :)
Remember each post of your blog can be used to target niche keywords, as your blog grows and gains authority you can target more competitive keywords and drive even more traffic to your site/blog. As I have said before if your not a “blogger” this still applies as your site or business should be utilizing a blog to drive relevant traffic your way.
What I want to do today is take you through what I do before I write 90% of my posts (some posts are just me moaning and rambling :) . This step by step guide, should I hope help you to drive more traffic to your site.
OK here we go……
Step 1
Decide what your going to write about, what topic is it going to be on? How are you going to structure it? Throw up a few graphics/videos, whatever you think is relevant and interesting.
Step 2
You will need to find a good keyword tool. I am sure many of you will have your favourites, if not check these suggestions out but to be completely honest I simply like using the google keyword tool. Type in the main theme of your blog post like so…

Step 3
As you can see I typed in “optimise blog post titles” and it returned the below suggestions:-

As you can see it didn’t really return much but my eyes were drawn to “optimization blog“, it only got 170 exact searchers last month but that is 170 searchers I would have liked to have been targeting. So as you can see from my title I decided to implement it.
Step 4
Follow all the fundamental blog optimization rules, use the keywords in your title tag, head tag and in the body of your post. The word “Optimization Blog” is not a natural sounding word so I have to use it carefully and have attempted to stick to keyword proximity rules.
One word of warning when using this method, don’t go overboard. Don’t try and make every post fit a keyword, your content will come across as false if you are trying to force a keyword in that does not really relate. As I have said some of my posts here are ramblings of my opinion I do not optimise these (purposefully) as I like to make all my posts reader friendly.
Implement this sensibly and you will see a significant improvement in your traffic.
